Kamba Benga musician Alex Kasau Katombi has issued a stern warning to bloggers and content creators using his videos, photographs and audio recordings on YouTube channels without his permission.
In a Facebook post, Katombi gave content creators 24 hours to remove his material, including content recorded during interviews and live performances.
The musician warned that failure to comply could result in copyright strikes and infringement claims against the affected channels.
“Kama unajua wewe ni blogger wa na umeeka video zangu, picha ama audio kwa channel yako ya YouTube regardless niya interview ama live performance you have 24 hours to pull them down, failure to do so you will get strike and copyright infringements,” Katombi stated.
The Kamba Benga star did not identify specific bloggers or YouTube channels in the post, but his message appeared directed at anyone using his content without authorisation.
Katombi further adopted a defiant tone, concluding his warning with the statement: “They branded me a bad person, let me show you how bad I can become.”
The warning comes amid growing concerns among artists over the unauthorised use and monetisation of their music, performances and other creative content on digital platforms.
It remains unclear what specific action Katombi intends to take against content creators who fail to comply with his 24-hour deadline.
