This update follows an earlier confirmation from Kenya Power of a major blackout affecting Nairobi, the Coast region, Mt Kenya, and sections of the Central Rift. In a statement issued at 9:05 pm on Wednesday, the company noted that parts of the North Rift and Western regions had remained unaffected and continued receiving power throughout the outage.

At the time, Kenya Power said its technical teams had been dispatched to investigate the source of the disruption and work toward restoring supply to the impacted areas as swiftly as possible. The company also apologized for the inconvenience and urged affected customers to remain patient as restoration efforts got underway.

While Kenya Power’s latest statement confirms that power has been fully restored across all affected regions, the company has yet to disclose what caused the blackout. The outage had generated widespread concern after social media users began reporting power cuts in various parts of the country even before Kenya Power issued its initial statement acknowledging the disruption.
