Purity Ngirici Sacked from Kenya Seed Board After Quitting UDA

Former Kirinyaga Woman Representative Purity Ngirici has been removed as Director and Chairperson of the Board of Kenya Seed Company Limited, just a day after she announced her departure from the ruling United Democratic Alliance (UDA).

In a directive dated April 30, 2026, National Treasury Cabinet Secretary John Mbadi ordered her immediate removal from the board.

The letter stated that the decision was made in line with the company’s Articles of Association, which outline procedures for appointing and removing directors. It instructed the Managing Director to implement the changes without delay and indicated that further instructions would follow.

Although no specific reason was given for her removal, the directive emphasized adherence to governance provisions governing the board’s composition.

The move came shortly after Ngirici publicly announced her political realignment, confirming her exit from the ruling UDA party led by President William Ruto and expressing support for opposition politics.
