Radio Citizen Presenter Joins ODM, Targets Babu Owino’s Seat

Radio Citizen presenter Tina Ogal has officially joined the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) as she prepares to contest in the 2027 General Elections.

Ogal was among several new aspirants who were welcomed into the party on Tuesday, April 28, during a ceremony led by ODM Secretary General Catherine Omanyo.

At the event, the veteran Royal Media Services journalist declared her interest in vying for the Embakasi East parliamentary seat, currently held by Babu Owino.

The party confirmed her entry, noting that she had also expressed her intention to run for the constituency seat.

Her move marks a fresh twist in the race for Embakasi East, which is expected to be highly competitive as political activities intensify ahead of the next polls.

Ogal brings over two decades of experience in media, having joined Royal Media Services in 2004. She is well known for her commanding Swahili delivery and strong audience engagement.

Her career has seen her rise through the ranks, including a stint as Acting Head of Radio following Jeridah Andayi’s exit from the company.

Other newcomers who joined ODM include Bayamin Mahat, who is eyeing the Waberi Ward seat in Garissa County, and Bobby Onunga, who plans to contest the Embakasi Ward seat in Nairobi.

The recruitment drive is part of ODM’s wider strategy to strengthen its presence nationwide by attracting new political aspirants.

ODM leadership said the initiative aims to widen democratic space and encourage participation from professionals and community figures.
