Authorities revealed that the victim had earlier reported receiving death threats from her husband. According to Nakuru DCI boss Samuel Ngeiwa, a house help told investigators that the couple had been quarrelling before the situation escalated.

The suspect allegedly stabbed his wife in the stomach, inflicting fatal injuries in an incident that reportedly happened in the presence of their four-year-old daughter. The victim was rushed to hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival.

Police visited the scene and arrested the officer, who is now being held as investigations continue. His body was moved to the mortuary for a post-mortem. A court has since allowed detectives to detain the suspect for 14 days pending further investigations.

In a separate incident in Mombasa, a man is set to face murder charges after his wife died from stab wounds sustained during a domestic fight at their home in the Port Reitz area of Changamwe. The woman, identified as Susan Mito, had been injured on April 5 and later died in hospital on April 14. The suspect, initially charged with attempted murder, will now face a murder charge.

Elsewhere in Vihiga County, police have launched investigations after the body of a 33-year-old man, identified as Stephen Odindo, was found in a maize plantation in Luanda sub-county. Authorities believe he was attacked by unknown assailants and sustained injuries to the face from a sharp object. The body was taken to Coptic Hospital Mortuary as investigations continue.
