According to witnesses, the husband allegedly assaulted his wife before neighbors intervened. Boda boda riders who responded reportedly pursued and cornered him as he tried to escape, before attacking him and leaving him critically injured.

Officers later arrived at the scene, rescued the suspect, and took him into custody. The woman’s body was moved to Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital morgue, where a post-mortem is expected.

Authorities have launched investigations into the incident and cautioned the public against taking the law into their own hands, urging residents to allow due process.

Cases of domestic violence are said to be increasing, with ongoing campaigns encouraging peaceful conflict resolution among couples.

In a separate incident in Narok County, police are probing the death of an unidentified woman whose body was found near a culvert along the Narok–Nakuru Road. The woman, believed to be about 30 years old, had reportedly been seen in nearby bars the previous day.

No visible injuries were noted, and the body was taken to the Narok morgue for examination.

Meanwhile, in Mpuri, Imenti North Sub-County, a 37-year-old man died after a fire gutted his house in a suspected arson case. The victim, identified as Erick Mwenda, was reportedly heard calling for help as the flames spread through his two-bedroom wooden house.

Efforts by a responder to break into the house were unsuccessful due to the intensity of the fire and a locked door. The cause of the blaze remains under investigation. The body was moved to Meru General Hospital mortuary as authorities continue with inquiries.
