Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya has accused the national government of defying court directives by failing to restore his security detail.
Speaking in Saboti Constituency, Natembeya said he was disappointed by what he termed a deliberate attempt to intimidate and silence him following the withdrawal of his guards at the end of November.

He insisted that the move would not stop him from speaking out against what he described as poor governance, calling on the national government to uphold fundamental rights and respect the sacrifices made by leaders who fought for Kenya’s independence.
The governor said the withdrawal of his security and driver was punishment for speaking the truth, questioning the meaning of freedom under such circumstances.
Natembeya also issued a strong warning to those he accused of harassing him, saying history would judge them harshly for prioritising personal comfort over the welfare of the people.
In a interview with a local radio station last month, the governor claimed the government withdrew all his security officers, driver and official vehicle without explanation, linking the action to his outspoken political views.

He said the move amounted to intimidation and further alleged there were efforts to block his travel to Malava and other areas where he had planned public engagements, describing it as a wider plan to restrict his movement.
His remarks come just days after reports that unknown individuals disrupted one of his rallies in Kabuchai Constituency, where gunshots were allegedly fired and several vehicles damaged. Natembeya said the incident reflected growing political intolerance.
