A multi-agency operation involving officers from the DCI’s Operation Action Team and the Crime Research Bureau, working alongside local security teams, led to the successful capture of the suspects. Acting on intelligence, the officers raided the suspects’ hideouts and apprehended them.

Following interrogations, the suspects led police to the Rhonda area in Nakuru, where an AK-47 rifle—serial number 18916—loaded with three rounds of ammunition, was found hidden in dry grass near a residential compound, according to County Commissioner Loyford Kibaara.

The arrests mark a significant breakthrough in the hunt for a gang that had been terrorizing Nakuru residents.

The group was behind a deadly ambush on the night of June 1, 2025, during which they attacked police officers on patrol, fatally shooting one and injuring two others. Authorities say the gang leaves behind a trail of fear and suffering for their victims.
