Governor Julius Malombe today joined residents of Kituti village in Kitui South Sub-county to mourn the loss of Mzee John Nzengela Nguu, grandfather of NTV’s Ben Kitili, who passed away at the age of 127.

The burial ceremony, attended by a large number of local residents and political figures, was a moment of reflection for the community.
During his remarks, Governor Malombe extended his heartfelt condolences to the family of the late Mzee Nzengela Nguu, and commended the long life and legacy of the deceased. The Governor reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to improving the livelihoods of Kitui residents through continued service delivery and development initiatives.

“Despite the sadness of this occasion, we are reminded of our duty to ensure that the lives of our people continue to improve,” Governor Malombe stated. “We remain focused on delivering essential services and fostering economic growth for the residents of Kitui.”
In attendance was Senator Wambua Kiio, who took the opportunity to praise Governor Malombe’s efforts in spearheading the County Aggregation and Industrial Park project at Kanyonyoo.
The Senator highlighted the significant potential the project holds for business growth in the county, emphasizing its role in creating job opportunities and stimulating local economies.
Area Member of County Assembly (MCA), Muthama Kieti, also expressed support for the Governor’s administration, particularly the county’s ongoing development projects. He commended the county executive for their sustained efforts in ensuring that essential infrastructure and services reach all parts of the county.
A section of County Ministers and Chief Officers were present at the ceremony, reflecting the unified support from the County Government. Political Advisor Mwangu Ivuti also attended, showing solidarity with the residents of Kitui South during this time of loss.
As the community mourned the passing of a respected elder, the ceremony underscored the unity and dedication of the leadership in driving the development agenda for the people of Kitui County.
