Several Machakos County Government inspectorate officers were apprehended on Wednesday for allegedly assaulting a Member of the County Assembly (MCA) within the court premises.
The county officers were taken into custody after a court official contacted a senior police officer in the county, reporting an attack on the court.

The inspectorate officers attempted to arrest Kalama MCA Boniface Maeke at the Machakos Law Courts but faced resistance, leading to a chaotic situation.
Maeke resisted the officers’ attempt to arrest him, with support from some colleagues and members of the public.
The arrested county employees were instructed to provide statements at the Machakos police station’s DCI offices.
Maeke provided his statement at the station before being hospitalized for treatment.
In a phone interview with the Star later, the MCA claimed that he was stripped naked by his assailants during the altercation.

“I’m unsure why they targeted me. I recognize some of my attackers; they are employees of the Machakos County Government,” Maeke stated.
He explained that he had accompanied his counterpart Douglas Musyoka to court when the incident occurred.

Musyoka had reportedly been arrested by Machakos County officers on Tuesday for allegedly constructing a house without proper approvals from the county government.
The MCA was released on a bail of Sh50,000.
Maeke expressed bewilderment over the motive behind the attack and disclosed seeking medical attention at a Machakos hospital for injuries sustained on his leg and hand.
“A vehicle injured one of my legs during the incident. However, I am responding well to treatment,” Maeke confirmed.
