Why NTSA Portal Is Temporarily Unavailable

Motorists and transport operators will be unable to access NTSA’s online services over the weekend as the authority carries out scheduled system maintenance aimed at improving its digital platforms.

The temporary shutdown means users will not be able to access key services such as logbook transfers, driving licence applications, vehicle registration, and other online transactions until Monday morning.

In a public notice shared on X, the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) said the interruption is part of routine technical upgrades designed to enhance the speed, reliability, and efficiency of its online systems.

Planned maintenance

According to the authority, the scheduled preventive maintenance began on Friday, July 17, 2026, at 8 p.m. and will continue until Monday, July 20, 2026, at 8 a.m.

Throughout this period, all major digital services hosted on the NTSA platform will remain unavailable.

Motorists who intend to apply for smart driving licences, transfer vehicle ownership, register vehicles, or access vehicle information have been advised to make alternative arrangements until the system is restored.

NTSA apologises for inconvenience

Acknowledging that the temporary outage may inconvenience members of the public and transport stakeholders, NTSA asked users to be patient as its technical team completes the maintenance work.

“We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your patience and understanding as we work to offer quality services to you,” the authority said.

For those requiring urgent assistance while the online platform is unavailable, NTSA advised the public to contact the agency via info@ntsa.go.ke or visit the nearest NTSA office.

The authority expects all online services to resume normal operations on Monday morning after the maintenance exercise is completed.
