According to Bungoma Central Sub-County Police Commander David Saina, the young man collapsed while undergoing the physical fitness test and was pronounced dead upon arrival at Chwele Hospital.

“The recruit fainted during the physical exercise and was confirmed dead at the hospital around noon. His body has been moved to the Bungoma Referral Hospital mortuary,” Saina said.

Lieutenant Colonel Eliud Yegon, who is supervising the recruitment, noted that several candidates encountered challenges during verification due to discrepancies in their official documents, particularly mismatched names on birth and academic certificates.

He further urged prospective recruits to avoid drug use and prepare adequately for the demanding physical and mental requirements of the military selection process.

The KDF recruitment drive, which runs throughout October, aims to enlist General Service Officer (GSO) Cadets, Specialist Officers, Tradesmen and women, and professionals in fields including education, engineering, ICT, law, mass communication, and supply chain management.
