Governor Fernandes Barasa confirmed the cases during a press briefing at the county headquarters, stating that the patients and their families have been placed under isolation to prevent further transmission.

He appealed to residents to remain calm, urging them to report any symptoms such as fever, sore throat, or rashes, and to strictly follow public health directives.

“The three will remain in isolation for 21 days. Since they are not permitted to move around, the county government is providing them with full support through home-based care,” said Governor Barasa.

In response to the outbreak, the county has activated rapid response teams to trace contacts and identify any additional infections. The teams are equipped with personal protective gear to safeguard their health while managing the situation.

The county has also formed a multi-agency taskforce working closely with sub-county teams to monitor and address any emerging cases. Regular updates are being shared with the County Health Emergency Operations Centre and the Incident Management Command Centre based at the county HQ.

He further called on Community Health Promoters and faith leaders to educate the public on Mpox prevention and management, while advising residents to avoid direct contact with infected individuals.
