Police have apprehended three individuals who paid a visit to Kelvin Kiptum’s residence several days prior to a fatal accident. These three suspects, whose identities remain undisclosed, are currently held in police custody for interrogation.
Initially detained at Kaptagat Police Station in Elgeyo Marakwet County, they were later relocated to Iten for further questioning, following their detention until 11 am on Wednesday.
Investigators in Elgeyo Marakwet County, the hometown of the deceased athlete, are interrogating the three detainees to ascertain the purpose of their visit. This action comes after Samson Cheruiyot, Kiptum’s father, raised concerns regarding four individuals who had visited their home in Chepsamo village, Kaptarakwa ward, Keiyo South Constituency, Elgeyo Marakwet County, just days before the tragic accident. Mr. Cheruiyot emphasized the need for investigation, as the visitors failed to properly identify themselves during their visit.
Earlier, it was reported that the four individuals were summoned for questioning by the Elgeyo Marakwet County Criminal Investigations Officer. Mr. Cheruiyot positively identified the three individuals at Kaptagat Police Station, and the vehicle they utilized was impounded at the same station in Keiyo South.
