The raid took place in Uruku and was led by NACADA’s Head of Enforcement, SSP Nicholas Kosgei. Also on-site were Nyandarua County Coordinator Andrew Githua and Inspector Ian Liru, who coordinated efforts with local officers to ensure a smooth operation.

The target was an establishment operating under the names Beer Wholesalers Wines and Spirits and Travellers Pub. A 44-year-old woman believed to be the owner was arrested.

Authorities recovered 1,710 bottles (each 250ml) of various alcoholic brands suspected to be fake, including Tycoon, Sweet Berry, Dallas, Brandy, and Jambo, along with other soft drinks.

Initial checks raised concerns about the authenticity and safety of the drinks, prompting their seizure. The collected items were secured as evidence, and samples were sent to the Government Chemist for laboratory analysis.

Following the raid, NACADA reaffirmed its dedication to eradicating illegal and harmful alcohol, especially in underserved areas where enforcement is often lacking.

“This is part of a wider national effort to dismantle illicit alcohol supply chains and protect the public from unsafe, unregulated drinks,” said Kosgei.

The arrested suspect is set to be charged once lab results are in and legal proceedings are finalized.

NACADA is urging citizens to remain alert and report any suspicious alcohol operations, as it remains committed to its mission of reducing the harm caused by alcohol and drug abuse through law enforcement, public education, and strategic partnerships.
