The Machakos County Assembly is set to resume debate on a motion seeking to remove Speaker Ann Kiusya from office after a High Court ruling cleared the way for the process to proceed.
The court last week lifted orders that had temporarily halted the motion in March when Speaker Kiusya challenged her planned removal. With the suspension lifted, the Assembly is now preparing to reintroduce the motion.

Prior to the legal standoff, at least 33 MCAs had signed in support of the ouster bid.
Majority Leader Nicholas Nzioka, who initiated the motion, accused Kiusya of violating procedures by presiding over sessions discussing her own removal instead of recusing herself. He confirmed that the motion has been forwarded to the House Business Committee and will be scheduled for voting before it is tabled for debate.
The push is largely backed by MCAs allied to the Wiper Party, though some members have dismissed it as politically motivated.
Should Kiusya be removed, Deputy Speaker Stephen Nzue Mwanthi would assume leadership of the Assembly.
Efforts to reach Kiusya for comment were unsuccessful, as her phone went unanswered and she was unavailable at her office.
