Three people lost their lives and three others sustained serious injuries after a car transporting miraa collided with a boda boda in the Makutano area of Mwea, Kirinyaga County, on Sunday.
The accident occurred mid-morning along the Mwea-Embu highway.
Witnesses reported that two cars carrying miraa were speeding side by side heading toward Makutano from Ngurubani.
One of the cars collided head-on with a motorbike whose rider was overtaking a tuk-tuk.
Both the motorbike rider and the car driver died instantly.
A pillion passenger on the motorbike, who suffered head injuries, later passed away in the afternoon while receiving medical treatment.
