Kenya Power has announced planned power outages in parts of Migori and Meru counties on Saturday, July 18, 2026, as it undertakes routine maintenance on the electricity distribution network.
In a customer notice issued on Friday, the utility said the maintenance exercise will take place between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., with outage times varying slightly by location. Several residential areas, schools, businesses and institutions are expected to be affected.
The company apologised for any inconvenience the planned interruptions may cause, noting that the maintenance is necessary to improve the reliability of the power supply.
Migori County
In Migori County, the scheduled outage will run from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Areas set to be affected include Migori Airstrip, Ragana, Nyanchabo, Karamu, Mabera, Nyabohanse, Motemorabu, Isebania, the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) offices and neighbouring customers connected to the affected power lines.
Meru County
In Meru County, electricity will be interrupted from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Customers in Gimpine Primary School, Thaari, parts of Kianjai, Uuru, Miathene, Kirukire, Kathiiri, Karimba Primary School, Miathene KMTC, Kanjalu Girls, Ithamare, Mwithu Coffee Factory, Giunku, Kiandiu, Kitheo and surrounding areas are expected to experience the outage.
Kenya Power advised customers in the listed locations, as well as those served by the affected electricity lines, to prepare for the temporary interruption while the maintenance works are carried out.
