Two young pupils lost their lives on Monday, October 6, 2025, after being struck by falling stones from a nearby construction site in Kayole, Nairobi.
According to police, the incident occurred at Emmanuel New Life Academy Nyaura, where four PP2 learners were hit by debris that fell from an adjacent multi-storey building under construction.

Two of the children died on the spot, while the other two sustained serious injuries and were rushed to Mama Lucy Hospital. Doctors said the survivors were in critical condition and would be referred to Kenyatta National Hospital for specialized care.
Witnesses said the pupils had been washing their hands at a tap within the school compound, located close to the construction site, when the stones suddenly tumbled down.
The scene quickly turned chaotic as distraught parents and residents gathered, hoping their children had survived.
Locals blamed the tragedy on negligence, accusing the developer of ignoring safety standards and county officials of failing to enforce construction regulations.
“We want justice for these children. There were no safety nets, no barriers — nothing to protect them,” one resident said.
Police officers, Nairobi County officials, and representatives from the National Construction Authority visited the scene as investigations began. Nairobi Police Commander George Seda confirmed that a probe is underway to determine responsibility and ensure accountability.
The bodies of the two minors were taken to the mortuary pending autopsy results.
Fatal incidents at construction sites have become increasingly common in urban areas, often attributed to weak enforcement of safety laws, lack of protective gear, and disregard for building regulations.
Authorities have pledged to intensify inspections and enforce stricter safety measures to prevent similar tragedies in the future.
