An intern doctor died by suicide in Thika, two months following a similar tragedy in Gatundu.
The Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Union (KMPDU) attributes these suicides to the financial strain caused by unpaid salaries since August.
The union’s Secretary General, Davji Atellah, has called for the immediate payment of all intern doctors. In September, another intern, Desree Moraa, was found dead in her apartment after hanging herself.
