“This firm action underscores our commitment to integrity and to safeguarding the interests of Machakos residents,” the governor stated.

She added that the names of the suspended officers will be forwarded to the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) and the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) for further investigation.

The affected officers serve in various departments, including trade, administration, liquor licensing, cashier services, waste management, billing, revenue, and ICT.

Governor Ndeti stressed that accountability, fairness, and ethical conduct are the pillars of public service, urging county staff to reject corruption and embrace transparency in service delivery.

“There is no space for corruption in Machakos. The suspended staff must hand over to their respective chief officers and stop conducting county business,” she directed.

According to her, the officers are suspected of colluding with members of the public to irregularly issue permits, actions that have undermined county operations.

The governor said the staff will remain on suspension as EACC and DCI investigate, with disciplinary or legal action to follow depending on the findings.

She reaffirmed her administration’s stance against corruption, vowing to uphold integrity and transparency in county governance.
