Police say cases of armed cattle rustling have surged in the Kuria region despite ongoing security operations. They warned that locals acquiring illegal firearms for revenge attacks could worsen the volatile situation.
To restore order, security agencies have intensified patrols in the affected areas and launched operations to dismantle livestock theft networks believed to be operating across regional borders.
In a separate incident in Doldol, Laikipia County, a National Police Reserve officer accidentally shot his four-year-old daughter, injuring her hand and ribs. The child is receiving treatment in hospital and is in stable condition.
