According to investigators, the man’s body was discovered hanging inside his house. The young girl was found lying unconscious on the floor and was rushed to hospital, where she was pronounced dead on arrival.

Detectives believe the child was strangled and fatally injured before the man ended his own life.

Both bodies were taken to the mortuary as police await postmortem results and continue with investigations.

The incident adds to a growing number of similar cases that authorities have linked to rising mental health challenges, particularly among men, even as the government steps up efforts to address the issue.

In a separate incident, police in Kilifi County are probing the discovery of a man’s body at Soyosoyo Beach in the Ngerenya area after it was washed ashore from the Indian Ocean on the same day.

The body was moved to the mortuary pending identification and further examination.
