Two individuals lost their lives in a tragic road incident on the bustling Nairobi-Mombasa highway in Athi River, Machakos county.

The victims were identified as a motorcyclist and their passenger. Additionally, two other passengers sustained injuries and were hospitalized at Shalom Community Hospital in Athi River.
The collision, which occurred near Green Park Gardens in Athi River subcounty, was reported to the Athi River police station as a fatal traffic accident.

According to the police report, the motorcyclist, Caleb Kobo, lost control of the TVS motorcycle he was riding with three passengers after hitting a pothole on the left lane.
As a result, Kobo died on the spot, while one of the passengers, Churchill Chaka, passed away en route to the hospital. The other two passengers, Moses Stephen and Said Issac, suffered minor injuries and were admitted to Shalom Community Hospital.
The collision caused the motorcycle to slide and hit a Mitsubishi bus traveling from Mombasa to Nairobi.
The police conducted investigations at the scene, after which the bodies were transported to the hospital’s mortuary and both vehicles were impounded for further inspection.
