Construction of the Gitaru Interchange has reached 90 per cent, with works still ongoing as the project nears completion.
Kenya National Highways Authority Director General Luka Kimeli recently inspected progress at the site, where bitumen surfacing is currently in progress.

He called on the construction team to maintain their pace to ensure the project is completed within the agreed timelines, stressing the importance of consistent progress.
Kimeli underscored the project’s importance, noting it will help resolve long-standing traffic challenges along the corridor by improving flow, boosting connectivity, and easing congestion.
Once complete, the interchange is expected to significantly enhance movement for motorists and streamline traffic along the busy route.
KeNHA continues to supervise the project to ensure quality standards are met while pushing for timely delivery.
The inspection comes as the interchange itself hits 90 per cent completion, with the overall project now at 85 per cent.

Ongoing works include the service road, Muhuri Interchange, Kamandura Interchange, and drainage systems across the project area.
During the visit, emphasis was placed on quality control, adherence to timelines, and safety measures.
Kimeli also praised the project team for the steady progress made so far, highlighting the advancement of key components.
