Tom Anjere, the County Commissioner of Kisii, has cautioned political leaders against engaging in violent confrontations during public gatherings.
He emphasized that the government will not tolerate disorderly meetings, and individuals found responsible will face legal consequences.
Anjere expressed disapproval of a recent incident at Nyakembene market in Gucha South subcounty, where supporters of Kisii Governor Simba Arati and South Mugirango MP Silvanus Osoro clashed, resulting in four people sustaining injuries.
Residents were assured that the security team is actively working to prevent the recurrence of such incidents. The Directorate of Criminal Investigations is already investigating the clash, urging injured residents to report the matter to the nearest police station.
Anjere also called on the police to act decisively and professionally, without succumbing to intimidation from the political class in the county.
Members of the Kisii County Assembly, led by Henry Moracha, the Majority Leader and Basi Central MCA, condemned the assault on innocent civilians in Boikang’a Ward, South Mugirango Constituency.
They urged the government to expedite investigations and apprehend those responsible for the attack and the vandalism of county vehicles.
