Kitui: Uwezo Fund Cheques Distributed To Local Groups in Kitui West

In a significant move towards community empowerment, Uwezo Fund cheques were distributed to numerous registered and trained groups of youth, women, and Persons Living With Disabilities (PLWD) in Kitui West sub-county on Tuesday.

The distribution was carried out collaboratively by local leaders, including the Member of Parliament for Kitui West, Hon. Edith Vethi Nyenze and the Kitui County Women Rep Hon. Irene Kasalu.

The distribution event took place in two key locations within Kitui West – Kauwi and Matinyani Wards. The initiative aimed to provide financial support to various groups, fostering entrepreneurship and sustainable development within the region.

 

Highlights of the Uwezo Fund Distribution:

Kauwi Ward Distribution:

    • More than 25 groups situated in the Kitui West District were direct beneficiaries of the Uwezo funds.
    • The distribution ceremony unfolded in a vibrant gathering in Kauwi Ward, where community members gathered to witness the empowering event.Matinyani Ward Distribution:
      • Another noteworthy segment of the Uwezo Fund distribution occurred in Matinyani Ward.
      • Uwezo Fund cheques totaling 7 million shillings were disbursed to diverse groups in Matinyani, fostering economic growth and self-sufficiency.

The Matinyani multipurpose hall served as the venue for the distribution in this ward, creating a conducive space for community members to receive the funds.

The Uwezo Fund, a government initiative aimed at promoting entrepreneurship and economic development at the grassroots level, has played a crucial role in uplifting communities across Kenya. By providing financial resources to eligible groups, the fund empowers individuals to start or expand their businesses, creating a ripple effect of economic progress.
