Japan Airlines Plane Catches Fire In Haneda Airport While Landing


A Japan Airlines aircraft experienced a fire upon landing at Tokyo’s Haneda airport on Tuesday evening, as depicted in NHK broadcaster footage.

The visuals showed flames emerging from the aircraft’s windows and beneath it, igniting the runway. The incident involved a collision between the plane, arriving from Sapporo, and a coast guard plane, according to NHK’s information from authorities.

The airline reported that all 379 passengers and crew members were safely evacuated. Japan Airlines stated they were assessing the extent of the damage, as per NHK. The flight, Japan Airlines Flight 516, departed from New Chitose airport at 16:00 local time (07:00 GMT) and was scheduled to land at Haneda at 17:40.

Fire trucks were seen at the scene in TV footage, with smoke and flames emanating from the aircraft.
