Three individuals suspected of belonging to a gang were apprehended in Machakos, and authorities also seized a vehicle believed to be stolen in Mlolongo, Machakos County.
The apprehension occurred following an attempted robbery incident in Mlolongo Township on Thursday, during which a fourth suspect managed to escape. The police received reports of robbery with violence and the suspected recovery of a stolen vehicle at 9:06 am, prompting officers to respond swiftly.

While patrolling near Cooperative Bank in Mlolongo Township, police encountered a group of four individuals assaulting a woman. Upon spotting the police, the assailants fled in different directions. Three of them attempted to flee in a black Toyota Ractis but were intercepted by law enforcement. A scuffle ensued, resulting in injuries to two officers, one with a swollen right leg and the other experiencing chest pains.

The suspects were found in possession of various tools and items, including stickers, keys, mobile phones, crowbars, and a machete. They had allegedly robbed a 33-year-old woman of her belongings during the incident, causing injuries to her face and hands.
The suspects are set to face multiple charges, including robbery with violence, assaulting police officers, resisting arrest, and possession of suspected stolen property. The seized vehicle is being held at Mlolongo police station pending verification of its details and ownership.

Meanwhile, in another incident in Athi River East subcounty, unidentified individuals broke into Katani Secondary School in Mavoko, making away with property valued at Sh117,000.
The break-in occurred around 2:30 am when five robbers armed with crude weapons gained entry through the main gate. They targeted several offices, including the bursary, principal’s, deputy principal’s, director of study’s, exams’, and secretary’s offices.
The stolen items included cash, a laptop, a school mobile phone, and calculators. Despite the presence of a night guard, the robbery proceeded without interruption. Police have launched an investigation into the incident, and no arrests have been made at the time of reporting.
