Police Officer Found Dead in Turkana House

A junior police officer was discovered dead in his house at Lokamarinyang Police Post in Kibish, Turkana County.

Constable Harrison Rhobi had failed to report to duty on April 9, raising concern among colleagues. Officers went to check on him at his residence, where he lived alone, and found him unresponsive on his bed.

His body was moved to a local mortuary pending a post-mortem examination as investigations continue. Authorities say efforts are ongoing to improve working conditions for police officers.

In a separate incident in Wanguru, Mwea, Kirinyaga County, a 12-year-old boy drowned in a school swimming pool during a training session on the evening of April 9. He was rushed to hospital but died while receiving treatment. The body was taken to the mortuary for further examination.

Meanwhile, in Ndhiwa Sub-county, Homa Bay County, the body of a 47-year-old man was found in a water-filled quarry.

The deceased, identified as Peter Ogola Orwa, was discovered partially submerged in water at Ngere Village. Police, with the help of local residents, retrieved the body.

His wife told authorities that he had left home on the morning of April 8 headed for Homa Bay but never returned.

Preliminary checks showed no visible injuries on the body. It was moved to Ndhiwa Sub-county Hospital mortuary as police launch investigations into the circumstances surrounding the death.
