Nakuru Preacher Arrested Over Sodomy Allegations

A preacher from Nakuru, who was recently targeted by protesters accusing him of sodomy, has been arrested.

The preacher is facing sodomy charges in connection with an incident reported to Nakuru police in 2022.

Sheila Kegode, the Nakuru East Deputy Subcounty Commander, confirmed the arrest based on a warrant issued on March 3, 2025, following a police investigation. The suspect will be presented in court on Monday.

The case began when a victim filed a report at Nakuru’s Central Police Station in May 2022. A medical examination suggested blunt trauma to the complainant’s anal region.

The preacher was apprehended with an accomplice in Nairobi and later transferred to Nakuru Police Station for processing.

According to the victim, the preacher allegedly lured him into drinking alcohol one night before assaulting him. The victim, a TukTuk driver in Nakuru at the time, claimed the preacher asked him to drive him to an event and offered him drinks.

The victim said the preacher convinced him to enter his car, and after the drinking session, he woke up in severe pain, realizing he had been assaulted.

Earlier in March, hundreds of youths and community members stormed a church in Ruiru over similar accusations, threatening to destroy the building unless the pastor appeared. Some protesters even tore down parts of the church, declaring that the pastor should leave the community.
