Millions in Property Destroyed in Embakasi East Fire

A fire that broke out on the night of Saturday, March 1, 2025, in Tassia Estate, Embakasi East, Nairobi, left several families without homes.

The incident was confirmed by Embakasi East Member of Parliament (MP) Babu Owino through a video posted on his social media.

“Pray for us as fire is currently ravaging homes in Tassia, Embakasi East. Property worth millions has been destroyed, and men, women, and children have been left homeless, spending the night in the cold. Such a heartbreaking night in Embakasi East,” Owino said.

According to the police, millions of shillings worth of property were lost in the fire near the Tassia SDA church, and affected families had to endure the night without shelter.

Six individuals suffered serious injuries and were rescued by emergency response teams from the Red Cross, Nairobi County government, and police.

Social media footage showed emergency vehicles navigating through estate roads as onlookers filmed the scene from their balconies.

The injured victims were taken to Mama Lucy Kibaki Hospital for treatment.

Firefighters from Nairobi County, the Kenya Red Cross, and local residents worked together to control the fire and prevent it from spreading to neighboring estates.

The cause of the fire remains unknown, and police have launched an investigation into the incident.
