Met Dept Forecasts rain in Nairobi and Other Regions this Week

The Kenya Meteorological Department has announced that several parts of the country will experience rainfall this week, though many areas will remain largely sunny and dry.

In its weekly forecast for September 16–22, the department said showers are expected in sections of the Central Highlands, including Nairobi, as well as the Lake Victoria Basin, Rift Valley, Western Kenya, and the Coast.

Counties such as Nyeri, Nyandarua, Murang’a, Kirinyaga, Kwale, and Kilifi could record rainfall amounts above 100mm.

Meanwhile, daytime temperatures are set to rise above 30°C in the Coastal, North-eastern, and North-western regions, while parts of the Central Highlands, the Central Rift Valley, and areas around Mt. Kilimanjaro will experience cold nights with lows below 10°C.

The Met Department also cautioned of strong southerly to south-easterly winds exceeding 25 knots (12.86 m/s) over the Coast, South-eastern lowlands, North-eastern, and North-western parts of the country.
