The Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) has announced the release of placement outcomes for the 2023 KCSE candidates.
Released on May 21, 2024, these results determine the university and college placements for students who completed the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) exams in 2023.

KUCCPS reports that out of the 153,301 candidates who took the 2023 KCSE, 134,743 will pursue degree programs in public universities while 18,558 will enroll in private institutions. Additionally, approximately 7,800 students who achieved a C+ and above in the 2023 KCSE have opted for diploma courses.
This announcement signifies a significant milestone in the academic journey of the 2023 KCSE candidates. Cyrus Gituai, the Chairman of KUCCPS Board, assures that every eligible learner will secure a placement without facing capacity constraints.

Gituai highlights that the total training capacity declared by universities and colleges exceeds the number of KCSE candidates from last year, emphasizing KUCCPS’s dedication to placing students based on merit and preference while ensuring fairness and equity.
The placement process plays a crucial role in shaping the academic future of these students and aligning them with their desired educational paths. According to KUCCPS CEO Agnes Wahome’s report, the Bachelor of Education program received the highest number of applicants, reflecting a strong interest in this field.

Traditionally, male candidates have dominated placements in degree programs, while female students have constituted the majority in Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) programs, a trend observed since the central placement system’s inception.

KUCCPS extends congratulations to all applicants and provides guidelines on how to check placement results through their online platform, requiring the applicant’s KCSE Index Number, KCSE year, and password for login.
