KPLC: Areas Set to Experience Power Outages on Thursday

Kenya Power has released a notice outlining planned power outages scheduled for Thursday, May 8, 2025.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, the utility provider stated that parts of 11 counties will be affected by the interruptions, which are expected to occur at varying times between 8:00 am and 5:00 pm. The company explained that the planned outages are necessary to carry out routine system maintenance.

The counties set to be affected include Nairobi, Kajiado, Nakuru, Nandi, Homa Bay, Embu, Murang’a, Laikipia, Mombasa, Kiambu, and Kwale.

Nairobi

Power cuts will affect sections of Nairobi from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. Impacted areas include Lower Kabete Road, KSG, UoN Lower Kabete, Mwimuto, NSSF, New Kitsuru East, Saunders Close, and the entire Kiambiu area. Others include Wambugu Road and Wambugu Inn.

Additional locations affected are Kenya Water Institute, Akiba East, Akiba Court 3, Five Star East, Tabsera Academy, Memon East, Halai East, Bellevue School, Ruby East, Midlands Court East, Bandari Villas, St. Catherine of Alexandria Catholic Church, Masjid Bukhari Mosque, Soledo Springs East, Tepro Homes, Manifest Estate, Sifa Springs East, Missionary School, Manifest Apartments, and Nairobi Water.

Kajiado

Scheduled outages from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm will impact Kanisani Road, Kwekwe, Kahuho, Philothea, Kiserian Primary, Kiserian Town, Ndirangu Road, Olerai School, Naromoru, Gategi, Picnic Site, Brookhurst School, Emaasho, Sholinge, Farmers, NPC, Olorien, Birika, Ostrich Farm, Kipeto, and Saithya.

Nakuru

Power will be interrupted from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm in Majimoto Market, Ngoswani Market, Naikara Market, Oleshuta Market, Oloraimutia Market, Nkoilale Market, Sekenani Market, hotels along Sekenani–Talek, Talek Market, Narosora Market, Morijo Market, Entasekera Market, Olmeshutie Market, Orolte Market, and nearby customers.

Nandi

Belekenya and surrounding areas will have no power between 9:00 am and 5:00 pm.

Homa Bay

Areas including Ngeri, Nyagwedhe, Kikubi, Nyandiwa, and Magunga Market will face outages from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.

Embu

Outages from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm are planned for Nthagaiya Secondary School, Ngeniari Market, Macumo Secondary, St. Paul’s Gatinda Primary School, Kiringa Market, and surrounding areas.

Murang’a

From 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, power will be cut in Ruchu Girls, Kabati, Gacharage, Gitaimbuka, Ruona, Rwathe, Kaguthi, and Gathugu.

Laikipia

Areas affected from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm include Ichunga, Equator Girls, Kiawa, Baraka, Runda, Njoguini, Sweetwaters Tented Camp, Comfort Garden, Njoguini Primary School, and Sweetwaters Girls.

Kiambu

Power cuts between 9:00 am and 5:00 pm will impact Kilimambogo Millers, TIBS area, White Sisters, parts of Ngoingwa Classic, Family Gardens, PCEA, Kisiwa, Mpesa Foundation, Karibaribi, Maryhill, Kawira, Makwa Boys, Makwa Dispensary, Makwa Market, Magumu, and Gakui Shopping Center.

Mombasa

Outages from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm are expected in Fidel Odinga Road, Shell Nyali, Exhibition Road, Moyne Drive, sections of Jomo Kenyatta Road, Arti Villa Road East, Jamhuri Road, sections of Mama Ngina Road, Greenwood Drive/Lane, Light Academy, Parklane, Koroga, Neem Road, Oleander Drive, Coral Drive, Chandarana Supermarket, Nyali Beach Resort, Nyali Barracks, Chiromo Hospital, Voyager, Mt. Kenya Road, Bahari Hotel, Mombasa Beach Hotel, and Reef Hotel.

Kwale

Scheduled outages from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm will affect Carrefour Supermarket, Swahili Beach Resort, Kaskazi Resort, Diani Shopping Centre, Trade Winds, Diani Sea Resort, Chandarana Supermarket, Diani Marine, and nearby areas.
