The Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) has announced that its iTax platform will undergo temporary downtime this weekend to allow for scheduled system maintenance.
In a notice released Friday evening, KRA stated that the maintenance will begin on Saturday, October 25, 2025, at 8:00 p.m. and end at midnight on Sunday, October 26, 2025, lasting approximately four hours.
“Please note that there will be scheduled maintenance of the iTax system from Saturday, October 25, 8:00 p.m. to Sunday, October 26, 12:00 a.m.,” the statement read.
During the maintenance period, iTax services will be completely unavailable, meaning taxpayers will not be able to file returns, generate payment slips, update profiles, or apply for tax compliance certificates.

KRA apologized for any inconvenience caused and advised users to complete urgent transactions before the scheduled downtime.
The temporary shutdown is part of KRA’s ongoing efforts to modernize its digital infrastructure and ensure the reliability of its online systems.
Launched in 2014, iTax is the authority’s central online platform for tax registration, filing, payment, and compliance monitoring. It serves millions of Kenyans and integrates multiple tax services—including Income Tax, VAT, PAYE, Excise Duty, and Withholding Tax—into one digital portal.

Through iTax, taxpayers can register for KRA PINs, submit returns, make payments via linked banks, view compliance records, and manage personal or business details seamlessly.
The maintenance aligns with KRA’s broader digital transformation strategy aimed at improving efficiency, enhancing transparency, and supporting domestic revenue mobilization for national development.
