The suspects were allegedly planning a robbery in Eastleigh when officers intervened on Thursday. Among the weapons recovered were an AK-47 rifle and two pistols.

The arrests followed investigations by detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), who had been tracking a rise in violent robberies across Nairobi and parts of Western Kenya. The gang, believed to be well-coordinated, has been implicated in multiple armed robberies involving the use of pistols and an AK-47, causing widespread fear and financial losses.

Through forensic profiling and surveillance, authorities were able to link the suspects to various crime scenes. Nairobi regional police commander George Seda confirmed the arrests, describing the operation as a significant breakthrough in the fight against violent crime.

The suspects were apprehended in different locations within the city—Saika, Dandora, Huruma, and Pumwani. During interrogations, one suspect led police to a rented home in Saika, where a Falcon pistol with 11 bullets was hidden under a pillow.

Another suspect guided officers to a Dandora residence where an AK-47 with 30 rounds of ammunition and a tampered serial number was found concealed beneath a sofa. A third suspect was tracked to Huruma and identified as the owner of the rifle.

Investigations revealed that the three Ugandans had entered Kenya on May 21 via the Malaba border. Police believe they were involved in a previous robbery in Eastleigh before fleeing to Uganda.

The fourth suspect, a Kenyan resident of Githurai 45, was arrested in Pumwani, and a Palleberum Feg pistol was recovered.

Authorities say the group is part of a larger network behind several armed robberies in Nairobi and Western Kenya. Efforts are underway to track down additional accomplices still at large.

In a separate incident, a man in Garbatulla, Isiolo, voluntarily surrendered an AK-47 rifle with nine bullets to a local chief in Modogashe North sub-location. The firearm is being examined to determine whether it was used in any criminal activity.
