Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu and Kisii Governor Simba Arati engaged in a heated exchange during a funeral in Kisii on Friday.
The altercation between the two leaders escalated when a group of youths booed CS Machogu while he was delivering President William Ruto’s speech at Kisii Polytechnic grounds during the burial of the institution’s head, Daniel Nyariki.
Following the incident, Machogu accused Governor Arati of influencing the youth to cause chaos at the event. He criticized Arati’s leadership style and left the podium without inviting the governor to speak.
In response, Governor Arati accused CS Machogu of collaborating with rogue police officers to disrupt peace in Kisii County. He also criticized Kisii County Commissioner Kibet Bowen for his remarks at the funeral, suggesting that he cannot intimidate them.
The exchange between the two leaders highlighted tensions and disagreements over the management of the region’s affairs.
