Several individuals are feared dead and numerous others injured following a tragic incident involving a Kensilver bus en route from Meru to Nairobi, which occurred at the Tharaka Nithi bridge on Sunday afternoon.
Tharaka Nithi County police commander Zacchaeus Ngeno has verified the occurrence, stating that the precise cause of the accident remains unknown as investigations by authorities commence.
“We are yet to ascertain the exact number of fatalities, but there have certainly been casualties,” Ngeno affirmed.
As of the latest update, the victims have been transported to nearby hospitals for assessment, aiming to confirm the extent of fatalities and injuries.
“We urge all drivers to ensure their vehicles are consistently in roadworthy condition, particularly those operating public transportation,” Ngeno emphasized.

Rescue efforts are currently ongoing, with county officials and medical personnel mobilized at the site of the incident.
