Mwende Macharia Joins Radio Jambo

Celebrated media personality Esther Mwende Macharia, popularly known as the “Queen of the Airwaves,” has officially joined Radio Jambo after leaving Radio Maisha in August 2024.

The veteran radio host made the announcement on her Facebook page, where she wrote:

“Jambo, Queen Nimefika Radio Jambo. Sema Jambo! Starting this Monday!!”

Her arrival at Radio Jambo marks a new chapter in her illustrious career, which has spanned nearly two decades across several leading media houses.

From Baraka FM to National Stardom

Mwende began her radio journey as an intern at Baraka FM in 2007 before moving to Sheki FM in Mombasa. Her big break came when she joined Radio Maisha in 2010, quickly establishing herself as one of the most loved voices on the airwaves.

At Radio Maisha, she gained a loyal following through her vibrant hosting of the afternoon show Konnect, where her infectious energy, authenticity, and engaging style earned her the nickname Queen of the Airwaves. She also became a trusted corporate MC and influencer expanding her presence beyond the studio.

A Passion for Youth Empowerment

Beyond broadcasting, Mwende is also the founder of Champs Foundation, an initiative she launched in 2015 to empower young people, particularly those aged 15–24. The foundation focuses on building self-esteem, mentorship, and personal development among youth in underserved communities.

A Fresh Start at Radio Jambo

Her move to Radio Jambo, which is under Radio Africa Group, comes just months after she exited Radio Maisha in August 2024 following 14 years of service. Fans have expressed excitement online, with many eager to tune in to her new show, Mwende Macharia Night.
