Ruto also called for a new, collaborative approach to developing Kenya’s sports sector. He noted that past failures were often due to efforts being either government-led or controlled by FKF, which excluded other crucial stakeholders. He emphasized that the path forward must be a shared effort between the government, FKF, and the private sector.

The President highlighted the government’s commitment to sports development, mentioning ongoing plans for new stadiums, sports academies, and regional fields to support local talent.

Ruto concluded by stressing that Kenya, a nation with immense sporting talent, cannot afford to waste its potential due to poor coordination or underinvestment.

He expressed optimism about the country’s athletes, who were preparing to head to the World Athletics Championships, and said he expects them to bring home numerous medals.
